God Came Near

14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14

Why? Why would a transcendent being care to even trouble himself with us problematic humans? And if this is true… If God actually did become flesh and make his dwelling among us in, it is the most mind blowing event in all of human history. It would be an event that every human throughout time would struggle to wrap their heart and their head around.

This event – the incarnation, we call it, would not only radically change the way we view our faith. If it is true, I believe that every day of our life would be approached differently. To realize that the God of the universe chose to become a human baby in a remote, conflicted and complex part of the world, and walked with us – everything will change.

That event, would demand that I see his concern and compassion pouring out into every experience I have. I would realize that I have incredible significance to him. Just think about that, the gritty anxiety producing elements of my life are now his concern. He has asked me through this coming, to trust him to provide and care for me in big and small ways.

His fingerprints are now everywhere. There isn’t a corner of my life or my world that escapes his touch. Please, take some time today to open your heart to this mind blowing claim and its significance in your life today. Will you allow it to change and transform you? The power is there if you choose to use it. You now belong to him… His heart beats for you and will never ever abandon you. Let him make his dwelling with you, I can tell you, he makes an amazing roommate!
